It has been almost 40 years since my wonderful Hubs and I said 'I DO' and on this Valentines Day the flame is still burning bright, which I am so grateful for... 4 decades and it still seems like yesterday that we became eternal sweethearts... I love this song below:

Fire Tone

The wedding was at the firehouse. The Bride, Groom and nearly every male member of their families for the last 100 years were firefighters. The Women's Auxiliary provided a buffet dinner at the reception and a harmonica playing accordionist played for dancing after dinner. The toasts were given, then the bouquet and garter were tossed as the fire alarm rang and a shrill toned voice penetrated the joy filled air...

"MOMmmmmmmm, the boys are using my Barbie and Ken Firefighter dolls to play firehouse again. Give 'em back you guys or you'll never see that firehouse again !!!"

"L" is for Lumpia

This week, we are posting about the letter "L" Go HERE to see all the other submissions...

I am finally feeling like myself after a bad bout with a venomous spider bite that got infected and swelled up my leg between my ankle and knee. I am so grateful for antibiotics and steroids that helped me through it and my dear Hubs, who babied me so sweetly and did a lot around the house so I could rest and recover fully !!!

All I could think of was food and recipes for the letter "L"...

Lumpia are pastries of Chinese origin similar to fresh popiah or fried spring rolls popular in Southeast Asia. The recipe, both fried and fresh versions, was brought by immigrants from China to Southeast Asia and became popular where they settled in Indonesia and the Philippines.

During the years when my Hubs served in the U.S. Navy, we had the amazing opportunity of meeting many gracious, loving and wonderful families from the Philippines. Filipinos are known for their hospitality as are Indonesians and other cultures in that part of the world. When you enter their homes, you always feel so warm and welcomed and of course, their yummy dishes are delicious and full of flavor and history !

Lumpia

2 tbsp vegetable oil
1 lb lean ground pork or ground beef
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 onion, sliced
1/2 lb green beans, julienned
2 carrots, julienned
1 tbsp soy sauce (optional)
1 cup bean sprouts (optional)
15 lumpia wrappers, square or round
Salt to taste

Directions

Heat oil in skillet and saute garlic and onions until tender. Add pork and saute until browned. Add vegetables and cook until tender, yet crisp, about 5-10 minutes. Remove from heat. Season with soy sauce. When mixture is cool, add bean sprouts. Salt to taste.

To assemble lumpia: Carefully separate wrappers. To prevent them from drying out, cover unused wrappers with moist paper towel. Lay one wrapper on clean surface. Place about 2-3 tablespoons of the filling near the edge closest to you. Roll edge towards the middle. Fold in both sides and continue rolling. Moisten opposite edge with water to seal. Repeat with other wrappers. Lumpia can be frozen until ready to use.

Deep fry at 350 degrees until golden brown, about 3-5 minutes on each side. Drain on paper towels. Serve with sweet sour or vinegar and garlic dipping sauce (recipes below).

Vinegar Dipping Sauce
1/2 cup white vinegar
3 garlic cloves, crushed
Salt and cracked black pepper to taste

Mix together all ingredients.

Makes 1/2 cup

Sweet and Sour Sauce
1/4 cup white vinegar
1/4 cup soy sauce
1/4 cup ketchup
1/2 cup water
2 tbsp sugar
salt to taste
1 tbsp cornstarch dissolved in 2 tbsp water

In a small pan combine vinegar, soy sauce, ketchup, water, sugar and salt, and boil for 2 minutes. Thicken with cornstarch mixture. Makes 1 1/4 cup

2 days old...8 days old...Happy Valentines Day !!!

We have a new granddaughter, born last night to our youngest son and his wife...mother and baby doing fine...now their son is a Big Brother...she is our 3rd granddaughter ( and grandchild #9 ) in our family and we are as pleased a punch with this little sweetheart. We will get to meet her later this month on our travels in the Northeast...So excited with another precious one to bless our family tree!!!

My darling, beautiful friend Trishelle at Adventures of a Domestic Engineer came by to gift me with some yummy baked goodies and 6 cute flower shaped fridge magnets ( I thought they were candy ) I had won in her monthly Blog giveaway last month. What a perfect surprise !

This lovely and talented lady lights up every room she enters and every life she touches. She has a love of service to others that I wish I could capture, bottle and give to all the cranky, crabby sourpusses on earth. Her kind of positive Christian love reminds me of a quote from "Fried Green Tomatoes":

"I guess you already know that there are angels masquerading as people walking around this planet..."

I feel so very blessed that this angel is my friend !!!

As a child, Lindsey was lonely and stayed in her room. She sat on her pink, rose flowered bedspread her Mom had made with her beloved Booboo Bear as her loyal friend and companion. They were like Two peas in a pod. Today they were imagining a hot air balloon ride with birdies, sunshine and pretty scenery below...

A car door slammed outside.
"They're home," Nana called out.
Lindsay ran to greet them joyfully.

"Hi baby Kelton, I'm your big sister," said Lindsay as she gave him a kiss and her precious Booboo Bear."Now we will be two peas in a pod for always !"

I am sick and now my washer is broken. Same sickness I had in 2007, different appliance ( last time it was the dryer I think )

I was bitten by a venomous insect or spider then and now...I had shivering, cold sweats, fevers, headaches, nausea...Just came back from the DR. with antibiotics and steroids, a blood test was taken, I go back to the DR. on Friday to see if my leg's rash reaction from the bite has improved.

Here's what I wrote about spiders ( the sneaky little stinkers ) in a story a few months ago:

STEALTH HUNT

The curtain parted to reveal bright sunshine and blue sky. The morning family routine was in full swing...

Nearby lived someone in a dank and dark place. He lived a quiet, secret life hiding... no friends or family...alone.

When the moon was on the rise, he struck silently from the shadows for his quarry, feeding unencumbered. His fangs drank the life and blood from his victims. He killed to live and relished it. He was a predator to be feared and dreaded...especially when he was on the hunt or waiting to devour struggling prey trapped in his spider web !

Last time we had an old type appliance my Hubs handily fixed himself for pennies. This time we have an High Efficiency front load washer that he cannot even attempt to fix...

Rinse and Repeat except for the repair bill...UGH !

BTW, our Ward Church family through my Visiting Teacher ( she's the Relief Society President and a good friend ) was alerted yesterday and are standing ready with meals or anything else we might need until I'm better...in fact, I saw another church member in the lab before getting my blood drawn and she offered help too and I'm HER Visiting Teacher ...such a blessing to have all that support !

Mighty Oak of Faith : Sunday Sayings

We had a wonderful Southeast Regional Conference at church today, broadcast to 500,000 plus members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and I wanted to share of few thoughts that I gleamed from it. I usually take notes to ponder on later and there were quite a few gems of inspiration I loved and wanted to share...

1. Pray for the rising generation of youth in our country and world:
*Love them.
*Listen to them.
*Guide them.
*Protect them from evil influences in all their forms.
*Remind them often of their Divine Nature as Children of God.

2. Think daily about and pray to the Father
through our Savior Jesus Christ:
*Learn of Him.
*Follow Him.
*Keep His commandments.
*Testify of the reality of His Infinite Atonement, Repentance and Resurrection for all mankind.
*Find joy in life, be strong and endure to the end.

3. The Adversary ( Satan ) is real:

*Leads us away to darkness and misery.*Is the father of lies and evil.
*Makes sin seem acceptable and good
and being good seem out of style and bad.
*Knows our weaknesses and tempts us to sin.

4. Family Life and Family Home Evening:
*Teach Team Work and exemplify it yourself.
*Give your children the gift of your time.
*Create a loving, peaceful, respectful climate in your home.
*Have meaningful conversations together.
*Plan activities that promote Gospel Principles.
*Cultivate the ROOTS of Testimony, making them deep and wide, nourish them with service to others, knowing the worth of each soul and your faith will stand strong and immovable no matter what storms in life come to you.

How many seeds are there in an apple ? Just cut one open and count them...each apple is unique, as are we...

The best question is: How many apples are in each seed ???

Deep Dig

As the sun scorched ground was spun by an errant, harsh wind, Leland and Dina surveyed their packed up household. It was moving day after 50 years of living on the shores of the dead, shrinking Salton Sea.

They bought land in 1960 to escape suburbia, among other things and built their dream home. Happy memories lingered as they walked through the house and out into the back yard.

They stopped, praying over the little graves of wonderful family pets. "Yes, we know where all the bodies are buried, they thought, " and how well they covered the victims mob hit man Leland had buried deep in the desert sand... "

As we zip through the Alphabet each week, joining Jenny Matlock's Alphabe - Thursday, I thought of a lot of things again.

I have to go to a very boring awards dinner with my Hubs tonight, stuff is piled up in 2 rooms, ready to be sorted, donated or thrown away but I'd rather be here writing so I can face that dinner later tonight.

Maybe I should just rent a huge garbage container, put it in the driveway and fill it up...

Am I posting too much each week for Alphabe - Thursday ? Oh, well, whatever...

This week's Letter is "J" and since I am in process of getting rid of stuff at our house, a very slow and tedious process, I thought the perfect word was JUNK ... Go HERE to see all the other wonderful submissions...

JUNK mail...it is the bane of my existence every day the mail is delivered and just when I think I'm rid of it, a new pile arrives...

JUNK heap...where nearly everything you worked so hard for eventually goes when you die 'cause your kids don't want any of your JUNK, they have enough of their own JUNK to deal with ...
JUNK food...Ahhhhh, the pleasure of it as it hits your taste buds, the supreme feeling of greasy, crunchy, gooey goodness and blessed take out convenience...

...the JUNK sweets we eat to keep our ' sweet tooth' happy with all those yummy, scrumptious delights...

The neighborhood JUNK shop, where " one man's JUNK is another man's treasure "...

And if you're real lucky, you might just star as a cantankerous JUNK man in a T.V. sitcom...

One Step Part 1

The crescent moon shone brightly and the stars were a twinkling canopy as Lacy gazed up and settled into a lounge chair on the patio, sipping hot chocolate. She finally got her three kids tucked in and asleep. "Talk about Hanging off a cliff !" she mused. Her husband had duty at the firehouse... good riddance. This was her night to soak in a bubble bath, among other things...

The doorbell rang, she opened it, expecting someone else. Police Detectives showed their badges and one said, "Lacy Ann Easley ?"

"Yes," whispered Lacy.

"We have a warrant and we're arresting you for murder..."

One Step Part 2

Torn from her life on a tip to police, Lacy faced booking, interrogation, arraignment and jail. Forensics linked her to the victim, Chang Woo, a rich playboy restaurateur.

Lacy said she was waiting for a 'Happy Family' dinner delivery from Woo's the night she was arrested. After her bath, she planned to shave her legs and paint her toenails. Only her family and Detective Baranski believed her.

Tenacious investigating paid off:

Woo's nephew Chen implicated Lacy but he murdered his Uncle to inherit and pay off huge debts to loan sharks. He planted forensic evidence taken from Lacy's trash to frame her, purporting she was intimately involved with Woo.

Totally vindicated and free, Lacy watched trash collection every week, putting it out right before the truck arrived...

January 21, 2012

Buttner Corners, North Carolina had seen it's first ever murder trial come and go at last. Chen Woo was found guilty and sentenced to death. Another victim of Woo, who had her life and reputation ruined, then restored, Lacy Ann Easley commented that she had moved on with her life.

"I'm votin' today in the NC Primary. I believe in the 11th Commandment ( espoused by Pres. Reagan ), "Thou shalt not speak ill of any fellow Republican." All the candidates should be hammerin' Pres. Obama and his lousy record, not each other ! My opinion is the whole ' Campaignin' for President ' thing is way, way too long a process. Billions are bein' spent to put someone in the Oval Office in this stinkin' economy while so many folks are hurtin...?"

When asked about the verdict and Chen Woo, Easley replied,
" May he burn in everlastin' HELL !!! "

I have chosen the word "ICE" as my "I" word...Surprise, I thought of many things connected with the word and oh, was it a fun exercise !!!

Lacy said she was waiting for a 'Happy Family' dinner delivery from Woo's the night she was arrested. After her bath, she planned to shave her legs and paint her toenails. Only her family and Detective Baranski believed her.

Tenacious investigating paid off:

Woo's nephew Chen implicated Lacy but he murdered his Uncle to inherit and pay off huge debts to loan sharks. He planted forensic evidence taken from Lacy's trash to frame her, purporting she was intimately involved with Woo.

Totally vindicated and free, Lacy watched trash collection every week, putting it out right before the truck arrived...

HONEYcombs cereal...they changed the recipe for this popular breakfast cereal to try and make it less sugary and more marketable...Big Mistake...

As some of you may know, I used to have a couponing blog,$$$ Mom's Loot $$$, I started in 2008 where I posted my deals and the loot I saved to boot...well, 2 blogs got to be too much to handle so I melded all my coupon posts into this blog.

I love looking back at past posts to be inspired by my days of couponing glory to keep chugging along and pushing through when burnout arrives ( I have been kinda burned out since late last year ! )

In this horrendous economy, I am still able to find some great deals, just have to work a little harder to put them together and get them done ! Remember, I count everything, savings on coupons, freebies, BOGO's, hotel stays, airline tickets, you name it, if I plunked down our hard earned money, I kept track of it all year long !!!

Here are my yearly savings since I started couponing in April of 2008:

2008 - $4,870.06 - -

2009 - $3,259.15 - -

2010 - $3,282.42- -

And my savings in 2011: $3,010.75

Not bad but not my best year either...Time to roll up my sleeves and get to gettin'...

I am hoping and praying for bigger numbers in savings after January 2013 ... :D

Best Sleep EVER !!!

They say we all spend 1/3 of our lives sleeping so isn't it a treat to have a nice bed to cuddle up in at night ? We have a Beautyrest Pillow Top Bed that we love but I felt needed improvement and I love outfitting our bed with fresh new things for comfort and also to spice things up a bit ! *WINK*

We love flannel sheets. They are so cozy, comforting and warm. We have several sets for our king size bed that we use year round along with regular sheets. I usually buy Christmas themed sheets after the holidays in January dirt cheap. This year I bought 2 sets of flannel sheets and 3 sets of regular sheets, flannel marked down to $14.99 ( 50 % off, love the Snowman ones ) at Target and 300 thread count sheet sets for $20.00 (65 % off, regular price $70.00 each ) at J.C.Penney.
We also love real feather pillows, which are pricy but so worth it. I like to mold them as I sleep but felt that as a pretty light sleeper, adjusting them all night long, I was losing precious sleep in the process ( I was so wrong ) So, I bought 4 memory foam pillows ( $60.00 ) to replace our feather pillows and a 2 1/2 inch Serta Memory Foam Mattress Topper ($129.00 ) at Sam's Club this past Saturday. I bought a name brand because it has a 10 year warranty.

I have had several days of the best sleep ever and I wanted to share our latest purchase that made it all possible. Our other previously purchased Cal King sheets fit well with the topper. I highly recommend the mattress topper but the memory foam/gel pillows, BIG Mistake. They are now in one of our spare rooms airing out ( they stink with chemical smell ) and will be used as bolster or back pillows for support only.

Our wonderful feather pillows have been taken back to their honored place on our bed, dressed in the cute Snowman themed sheets.

P.S. As for our spicy life, well let's just give a big HOORAY to the Memory Foam Mattress Topper for that bonus too !!! **Double WINK**

She finally got her three kids tucked in and asleep. "Talk about Hanging off a cliff !" she mused. Her husband had duty at the firehouse... good riddance. This was her night to soak in a bubble bath, among other things...

The doorbell rang, she opened it, expecting someone else. Police Detectives showed their badges and one said, "Lacy Joanne Manetti ?

"Yes," whispered Lacy.

"We have a warrant and we're arresting you for murder..."

School is now in session and I can't find my classes or my locker !!!

This week's challenge is the Letter 'G' and I chose the word GOOFY which means: ridiculous, silly, wacky, nutty, funny, daft. Go HERE to see the other submissions.

I must confess, I don't know what to do on this first try contributing to Jenny Matlock's Alphabe-Thursday...so hang on 'cause here she blows !!!

Laurel & Hardy...perfect timing, crazy situations, funny outcomes, ultra talented and GOOFY...my very favorite is when they move the piano...

Abbott & Costello...Silly, good, frustrating fun...my favorites of theirs are the movies with Frankenstein, Dracula, the Wolfman, the Mummy and the Invisible Man...GOOFY with Monsters ? Only Bud & Lou could pull it off !

I Love Lucy... Queen Lucy of wacky, crazy, zany, GOOFY situations...along with her wonderful sidekicks, Ricky, Ethel and Fred..there is no end to the silliness..my favorite episode is when they are in Hollywood and starstruck Lucy meets William Holden at the Brown Derby, makes a scene and then has to disguise herself when Ricky introduces them later that day. I've seen it dozens of times but I still laugh 'cause it's so darn GOOFY !

The Three Stooges...ridiculous, daft and annoying...my Hubs just loves them...must be a guy thing...Yikes, does that make him GOOFY too ?

The Nutty Professor ( 1963 ) ProfessorJulius Kelp ( Dr. Jekyll ) might be GOOFY in appearance and deeds but he's also brilliant and kind. He mixes up a potion in his lab to turn him into Buddy Love, the confidant, sharp, suave, arrogant, self centered (Mr. Hyde ) man about town but it's Julius who wins the heart and hand of pretty Miss Stella Purdy in the end...

Wayne & Garth on SNL...GOOFY trying to seem cool is always hilarious and you gotta love their top 10 lists... Oh, behave...now that's special...

Shawn & Gus... Think silly but clever...you want to rewind to catch every last morsel of dialogue because you're laughing so loud and miss so many obscure references to past and present movies, T.V. shows and whatever else...who cares about who done it or why ???...just watching these guys in action is GOOFY good fun...come on, it's fab to be daft sometimes !

GOOFY, the original Goofmister...he's sweet, funny, lucky and gets into so many jams it can make your head spin until you feel a little GOOFY yourself !!!

When I think of the word GOOFY, my Daddy comes to my mind first and I smile...he did the best GOOFY impression...all I had to do was say 'GOOFY' and he would do the laugh and talk to me in GOOFY's voice and then he would do Donald Duck too...I miss my Dad and those silly, wonderful impressions and if this post makes me a GOOFBALL, so be it !!!

Oh my insides, this was one of the most difficult prompts of 2011 for me and doubly so since all I could think of was poem/prose ( writing poetry etc. is so hard for me ) to satisfy the end of a great year participating in Jenny Matlock's weekly writing challenge, Saturday Centus !

Dreaming of a Quiet New Years

Every year, many of the neighbors around us set off fireworks for hours on New Year's Eve, until the wee hours of the morning. We'll have an early dinner out, some munchies at home, watch "It's A Wonderful Life" on DVD, witness the ball drop at midnight in Times Square on TV, have a toast with sparkling Grape Juice, a New Year's kiss and then try to get some shut eye with all the hoots, hollers and blasts going off around us...well, I can dream, can't I ?

On New Years Day. we'll go to church, watch some of the DVR'd Rose Parade and when the bowl games start ( Rose, Orange, Cotton, Hula etc.) I will retire to our room to watch movies, read, and nap to my heart's content, the guys will eat my homemade chili, corn muffins, yell at the TV and relax the way only guys can ...

I banished New Years Resolutions from my life years ago and I must confess, I have been happier and more satisfied with every year that has past since then. Who needs more guilt for not getting things done you intended or promised yourself you would do anyway ? Not me !!!

A very Happy, Healthy, Blessed and Profitable 2012 to all of you dear friends... It has been so wonderful getting to know you in 2011...here's to more blogging fun to come !!!

The Spirit of Santa

This was the fireplace I dreamed of and pictured in my mind,
with a baking oven next to it before we bought our home...
Our fireplace is a bit smaller and no baking oven but I'm happy with it...

When we built our home 21 years ago, I made sure we had a red brick fireplace with a hearth and a mantle with plenty of room to hang our stockings and to set up our Nativity scene.

Every house or apartment we had lived in over the years, when our children were growing up, didn't have a fireplace and as a result we got lots of questions from them. I once made a fireplace in our living room out of a small bookcase covered in red brick printed crepe paper. We hung our stockings on it...solved all the questions about how Santa got in and showered us with goodies on Christmas morning.

We always asked our kids when we were questioned about Santa, "What do you think ?" The answers they gave were better than anything we could have told them and it was wonderful to hear their imaginations create and soar... we also said Mom & Dad were Santa's Helpers, playing down the frenzy that too much Santa focused conversation can create.

Yes, Santa's Part in our celebration was very small compared with the true meaning of Christmas. Our focus as parents at Christmas was/is always on the birth of Jesus, His life, His mission here on earth, His Infinite Atonement and Resurrection.

As we decorated our tree every year, we talked about the Symbols of Christmas with our children and origins of other traditions/symbols as well and happily, those times are treasured memories for all of us !

My AFTER photo was snapped as Papa & I walked back to the car after a lovely, romantic picnic on the beach after sunset. Lemon Street is the place we always come to walk on the beach, frolic in the sand and surf and where we used to drop off our 4 sons and their friends to surf before they had their drivers licenses...winter, spring, summer and fall...wet suits, surfboards, wax, flip flops, sand galore, wet towels and tired, salty boys to pick up at sunset.

They are all still avid surfers to this day and enjoy Lemon Street with their own children...that place and beachfront will always hold a special place in our hearts !

~ Santa's Workshop, North Pole ~

Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer, along with Hermey,the Dentist Elf and Gold and Silver Prospector Yukon Cornelius foiled and tamed Bumble, the Abominable Snow Monster in a daring rescue.

After returning the kidnapped to safety, Rudolph was asked, on the foggy Christmas Eve, to guide Santa's sleigh full of toys, some from the Island of Misfit Toys, saving Christmas !!!

Santa commented on the other reindeer excluding Rudolph and making fun of his red nose , "It doesn't have to be that way, we all need to be loved and accepted as we are !!!

Papa and I were visiting Walt Disney World for his birthday when they were running a FREE DAY ADMISSION on your birthday...that was a good year..we went in the spring for Papa's birthday and then I got a free day admission in the fall for my birthday.

Then we found out about a 5 day anytime pass to use the next year for Military & their families. Papa got his free 5 days for being retired military and I paid the tax only on my 5 days ( about $25.00 ) we stretched out the days into mini vacations ...so we went quite a lot over 1 1/2 years on Disney's dime...thank you WDW !!!

Let the Magic Begin...

Our house is still in the process of being sprinkled with Christmas. My Hubs and sons need to lend some muscle to get the rest of the holiday decorations out of the attic and I've promised myself this year that I will not dread taking everything down in January !

I love especially finding the box of decorations and goodies I buy the day AFTER Christmas. It always puts a happy smile on my face when I open this treasure trove, stowed away 11 months earlier and basically forgotten.

Imagine the deflation I felt for a moment this morning when I recalled that I DIDN'T GO after Christmas to shop last year. NO happy surprises carefully reserved for this year's Christmas fun....bummer !

Oh, well, there are so many 1/2 off Christmas sales this year in this stinkin' bad economy I am taking my usual $50.00 and just spending it on some new decorations now !

I got on a mini cleaning jag right after Thanksgiving and I crammed a ton of stuff into our smallest bedroom to sort out, give to charity and get rid of...why on Earth did I do that ? I have no clue....the little bedroom door will remain closed until January, except for additions to the numerous boxes and piles in there already...

It's Christmastime after all, a time for reflection and gratitude to God for sending His Son, Jesus Christ. The Peace and Joy the Savior brings to every heart and soul is a priceless gift and I want to enjoy every minute of it !!!

I would love to visit this beautiful place... it is BEYOND REACH now, but not forever...palisade - like rock formations and lush forest in New Mexico right along the highway. My Hubs went there several years ago while visiting the Philmont Scout Ranch and when I saw the photos, I regretted I didn't go with him...now I say someday soon !

So my trip to Stein Mart for Black Friday was a waste of time...nothing caught my eye and the deals weren't that great...it was apparent by the lack of lines waiting to check out...this is my GATHERING photo... !

... had a relaxing, delicious, quiet lunch at Panera's to regroup and then go back to shopping...

I ended up going to Kohl's, which had extended their Early Bird hours until 2:30 P.M. to get my Mom's Christmas present...spent $75.54, saved $77.40, got $15.00 in Kohl's cash to boot... the cashier said as loud as she could that she couldn't wait to get out of the store for a few days...SMACK DOWN and DEFLATION of my Holiday Spirit...I have decided the rest of my Christmas shopping will be gift cards !!!

I love decorating for Christmas...usually just me doing the majority of it and my Hubs & sons lending much needed muscle to get all the festive decorations out of the attic. I have been doing nearly all the Christmas shopping for 39 years for our large family and I just haven't been that into it in recent years...hence the change to gift cards, then the kids and grandkids can get TWICE as much stuff shopping AFTER Christmas day ! ( at least that's what I use as my excuse for not doing the shopping anymore )

Now on to addressing Christmas Cards, baking, going to Christmas & New Year parties and cooking yummy things through New Year's Day...I'm good with the change to NOT buying oodles of gifts for everyone now but why do I still feel the need to explain myself ??? ...
UGH !!!

Pretzel Delights

This Thankful Thursday, I'd like to thank all the people who work in test kitchens, developing easy recipes using their products to make my life easier. I like this recipe because they are fast, easy, yummy and it is a great activity to do with children, along with another Pretzel recipe I posted previously, HERE.

Instead of nuts on top, use your imagination for variety...shredded coconut, crushed candy canes, M & M's, red hots, Reese's Pieces etc.

ROLO Pretzel Delights

Ingredients

Small pretzels
ROLO Chewy Caramels in Milk Chocolate
Pecan halves

Directions

Heat oven to 350°F. Line cookie sheet with parchment paper or foil.
Place one pretzel for each pretzel treat desired on prepared sheet. Top each pretzel with one ROLO Chewy Caramel in Milk Chocolate.
Bake 3 to 5 minutes or until caramel piece begins to soften, but not melt. Remove from oven; top with either pecan half or additional pretzel. Cool completely.
